Staff -- High school and adult students from all over Contra Costa
County make up the staff of KVHS.

In 1998, Melissa Wilson (a.k.a. Melissa McConnell of San
Francisco Bay Area radio and television for 20+ years) took over as
General Manager and Faculty Advisor of KVHS-FM.

Melissa has worked for such radio stations as KYA-FM and AM,
K101-FM, KEEN-AM, KDBK/KDBQ-FM, KKIS-FM and AM, KYCY-FM,
as well as KWUN-AM with Tom Wilson. She's also been a guest
co-host on KPIX-TV's "Evening Magazine," and a regular celebrity host
on KQED-TV's quarterly pledge drives since 1980. Her career in radio
includes positions as Music Director, Program Director, Operations
Manager and Webmaster, as well as On-Air Personality. She brings
Broadcast Industry expertise and expectations to the KVHS program.

The Faculty Advisor for 20 years, Tom Wilson, has been involved in the
radio industry since 1970. After starting out as a call-in guest on KSFO
he moved on to KWUN, and also on to KQED-TV. He was also an on-air personality and the Operations Director at KWUN before becoming the
Faculty Advisor at KVHS, as well as electronics instructor at Clayton
Valley High School and DVC in 1978. Tom Wilson remains as the
consulting broadcast engineer of KVHS today.

There are six major student managers that take primary
responsibility for the day-to-day operations of KVHS; the Operations
Managers, the Programming Managers, and the Technical Managers.
Each have their own student staff members for those specific areas of
the station operations.

There are also other management positions which include Music
Director, Public Affairs Director, Promotions Director, Production Director
and Website Director. It is truly a "student-run" radio station.

Curriculum
-- While an ROP (Regional Occupational Progam in the
Contra Costa County Office of Education) Radio Communications class,
KVHS is modeled as an actual radio station office and studio environment. Melissa McConnell Wilson contributed to the school district approved
textbooks, Creating Powerful Radio and Beyond Powerful Radio by Valerie
Geller
(Focal Press), and authored the companion Instructor Manuals,
utilized by college and high school radio and broadcast course instructors
all over the United States and countries around the world.
